The effects of wasting water are many and troubling, from higher water bill until major consequences for the environment. Water takes a lot of energy, time and money to filter and clean. Wasting water means we are wasting the energy intensive process of filtration that require non-renewable fossil fuels and these resources become depleted.
The freshwater that is cleaned and delivered to homes is often taken from aquatic environments in which the plants and animals rely on the water to survive. If too much water is removed from these systems and not returned in equal quantities, these species become endangered.
